Mosquito Control Owings Mills

Flea, Mosquito & Tick Control in Owings Mills, MD

PestNow's Yard Guard Program

Tired of bites when you step outside? Yard Guard is our outdoor program that cuts down fleas, mosquitoes, and ticks so your family (and pets) can enjoy the backyard again.

Why are ticks and fleas such a problem in Baltimore

Owings Mills has warm, humid summers, wooded edges, and shady yards. That's perfect for pests to hide and breed. Areas around New Town, Caves Valley, McDonogh, Randallstown, Pikesville, Reisterstown, Glyndon, Stevenson, and Milford Mill see this a lot—especially near streams, mulch beds, and dense shrubs.

What is Yard Guard?

Yard Guard is a seasonal plan (April-October) with seven monthly visits. We focus on two things:

  1. Stop pests before they hatch (source reduction)

  2. Knock down the adults where they rest and bite (targeted misting)

You'll notice fewer bites fast—and better results as the season goes on.

How Yard Guard works

Step 1: Source Reduction

We walk your property and look for places pests start:

  • Standing water (planters, buckets, clogged gutters, birdbaths, low spots)

  • Leaf litter, tall grass, and heavy shrubs

  • Shady, damp areas under decks and along tree lines

We treat mosquito breeding water with EPA-approved larvicides and give you easy tips to reduce water and moisture.

Step 2: Targeted Misting

We use a professional power mist blower to treat:

  • Dense shrubs and tall grass

  • Tree lines and wooded edges

  • Under decks/porches, around patios and playsets

This knocks down adult mosquitoes, ticks, and fleas and leaves a light protective barrier that helps between visits.

Yard Guard: What to expect

  • A walkthrough of the property to evaluate and address any issues

  • Treatment of key areas. PestNow is careful not to spray flowers or veggies.

  • Notes on what we did and simple fixes you can make

  • Automatic appointment scheduled for your next flea, mosquito, and tick control treatment.

Yard Guard Targetted Pest Areas

  • Shaded resting spots for mosquitoes

  • Leaf litter and edges where ticks wait for a host

  • Cool, humid pockets where fleas hide—even if you don't have pets

We follow IPM (Integrated Pest Management): smart, targeted, and mindful of people, pets, and pollinators.

FAQs about Fleas, Mosquitoes, and Ticks

Q: Can I start Yard Guard in the middle of the season?

A: Yes. We'll start right away and keep your Baltimore property on a monthly treatment schedule through October.

Q: Do I have to be home for Yard Guard service?

A: No. As long as gates are unlocked and pets are inside, we can treat and leave notes.

Q: What time of day do you treat?

A: We aim for cooler parts of the day when mosquitoes rest—usually morning or late afternoon, but anytime of day is still sufficient.

Q: Can I switch my visit date if I'm out of town?

A: Sure. Please let us know before your scheduled window, and we'll move you to a new day.

Q: What should I do before you arrive?

A: Pick up toys, pet bowls, and cushions. Mow a day before if you can, and unlock gates.

Q: Do sprinklers affect the treatment?

A: Turn them off the day of service. Run them again after the yard is dry.

Q: Will the treatment stain my deck or siding?

A: No. We target plants and shaded resting spots, not painted surfaces.

Q: Do you treat inside my house?
A: Yard Guard is an outdoor program. If you need indoor help, we can schedule a separate service.

Q: I have a pond or bird bath. Is that Yard Guard okay to use?
A: Yes. We protect water features and may use larvicides in standing water where appropriate.

Q: Will this harm bees and butterflies?
A: We're pollinator-conscious. We avoid blooms and focus on shaded resting spots, not flowers.
