How Do Termite Bait Stations Work?
How PestNow's Termite Baiting Works
At PestNow, we specialize in professional-grade baiting systems that offer a cleaner, smarter, and more effective way to eliminate termite threats. But how exactly does a small, discreet station in the ground stop a colony of thousands?
1. The Strategy: A "Trojan Horse" for Termites
Traditional liquid treatments focus on creating a chemical barrier around your home. While effective, they rely on the termites actually coming into contact with that specific barrier. Bait stations work differently—they use the termites' own biology and social behavior against them.
We install these stations strategically in the soil around the perimeter of your home. Each station contains a specialized bait that termites actually prefer over the wood in your house.
2. The Science: Disrupting the Colony
The bait inside our professional stations is infused with an Insect Growth Regulator (IGR). This is how the process works step-by-step:
Discovery: Foraging termite "scouts" find the bait station during their natural search for food.
Recruitment: Once they find the source, they leave a pheromone trail to lead the rest of the colony to the station.
The Transfer Effect: Because the active ingredient is slow-acting, termites don't die immediately. They feed on the bait and carry it back to the colony to share with the queen and other members.
Colony Elimination: The IGR prevents termites from molting (shedding their skin). Since a termite cannot grow or survive without molting, the entire population eventually collapses—including the queen.
When it comes to protecting your property from the "silent destroyer," technology has come a long way. This means your home is being protected 365 days a year. The moment a termite scout finds a station, the elimination process begins.
